This sort of news will not be welcomed by retailers, with a new study finding that up to 47% of Christmas shoppers are planning to leave at least some of their Christmas shopping until January in a hope to pick up some bargains in the sales. Some consumers are said to be leaving up to 50% of their shopping until the sales in a bid to save money.
With this Christmas being crucial for many retailers survival, it wasn’t the news they wanted to hear. Retailers have responded well to this news though with the number of voucher codes being released having increased as they try to entice customers to buy now and not to wait for the sales. The sales are expected to be huge this year with retailers expected to have more excess stock than ever so it could be a good year to pick up a bargain.
Consumers are also expected to cut people off of their shopping list as consumers try to trim their expenses and only buy their closest friends and family. Even with all this doom and gloom online sales are expected to rise and consumers move online to try and grab themselves a bargain and to compare prices for everything they buy.
